May Allah, ta ala, protect all the society from the perils of illness everywhere.
Salaamun Alaikum. Insha-Allah, this note shall find you and your dear families in good health, enjoying the bounties of the holy month of Ramadhan shareef.
As the days of the blessed month are numbered, we wish to remind you of all our obligation on Eid day, namely the Zakat al Fitr, or Fitra. The amount this year is $10 per person. As in the past, the Islamic Humanitarian Service will assist Mo'mineen in fulfilling this responsibility, in compliance with the Islamic etiquette in its distribution. As per the instruction of the Mara'ja Taqleed, the amount should be spent locally.
This year is particularly challenging, with the pandemic around us, and no gatherings permitted. We have a number of ways in which the Mo'mineen can get this Wajibaat fulfilled. One is to go on our web site, and contribute on our "donate now" section, with a credit card. Please put on the note that it is for Fitra (Sayyid or non-Sayyid). An instant tax receipt will be issued.
Another option is to mail or drop off a cheque to the Islamic Centre, 81 Hollinger Crescent, Kitchener, Ontario, N2K 2Y8.
A third option is to send a banking etransfer to , and let us know the transfer password.
Fourth option is to drop off the cash or a cheque to the IHS Director, Br. Sultan Hudda at 324 Pioneer Drive, Kitchener, Ontario, N2P 1K6.
In all of the above cases, it is extremely important to specify whether the Fitra is from a Sayyid or non-Sayyid. The head of the household is the determining factor of whether the entire amount is Sayyid or non-Sayyid. For example, if the main bread earner is Sayyid and the spouse is non-Sayyid, the ENTIRE amount is considered Sayyid Fitra. Same applies vice versa.
Those who pay before the Dhuhr time (or if there was to be Salaat ul Eid, then that time) on the day of Eid, would make the Niyyah (intention) that it is a loan, then on Eid day, change the intention from loan towards Zakat ul Fitr.
Should there be any further questions or clarification required, please leave a message at 519 576 7111, and we will get back to you within a reasonable time schedule.
May Allah ta ala bless each and every one of you, and accept our good deeds during this month of Barakah, and forgive our sins and shortcomings! May Allah Almighty hasten the return of our Awaited Imam al-Hujjah to establish justice and equality throughout the world.
